Samples of work done by 6th graders in the year long
Math games
These games were built using Scratch, a computer programming language from MIT. The projects were done as a pair programming project where 2 students worked together in designing and programming the game. The project took 5-7 classes. Students learned programming concepts like variables, messaging, iterations, conditionals and input/output. They also learned many math concepts like random numbers, boolean expressions, and of course had to solve math problems to test their games. They also showcased their creativity in designing the story, character and background. The games were uploaded to the Scratch web site, and are available below.
